Tarion & Performance Audits: Making your new House feel like Home

Congratulations! You’ve purchased a new-build or converted condominium (or perhaps you’re managing one!). It’s exciting to move into a brand new building, isn’t it? The smell of fresh paint…and…wait, are those cooking odours? Why can I hear my neighbours so clearly? Brand new buildings aren’t supposed to be saddled with construction issues like my old condo building right? And if they are, surely the builder will need to fix those issues. You’re entering a world of warranties, deadlines, inspections, and fees – join us to learn more about Tarion, Performance Audits, and the Resolution Process so you can get those pesky deficiencies resolved and start enjoying your new home.

Speaker – Stefan Nespoli

Stefan Nespoli, P.Eng. leads Edison Engineers’ Grand River office and is an active advocate of CCI. Professionally his career has been built around working with condos to prepare Reserve Fund Studies and carry out major structural and building envelope repair projects. He’s passionate about working with condos because his work has a direct impact on owners’ lives and finances – it’s an enormous responsibility and gives him pride in his work. Stefan began his career as a contractor and gained valuable experience on condominium, commercial, and hospital project sites in Toronto and Southwestern Ontario before finding his way to Building Restoration consulting and the Condominium industry over a decade ago. His technical background combines the areas of Structural Restoration (parking garages, balconies, waterproofing), Building Envelope (Masonry, Window Systems, Heritage), and Capital Planning (Reserve Fund Studies and Performance Audits for Condominiums). With his breadth of experience, Stefan’s passion is working with Condominium Boards, Managers, and Owners to navigate the rough waters found at the intersection of Reserve Fund and Major Project Planning.
